Cohabitation

Overview

Many couples prefer to live together in long-term relationships without being married. However, unlike marriage or civil partnerships, cohabiting couples do not automatically have the same rights and protections as married couples when they separate, especially in respect of pensions, lump sums or maintenance from their former partners except where the lump sums or maintenance is for a child.

At Empower Family Law our solicitors are specialists in Cohabitation Law. We understand the concerns each party will have in regard to their children, their rights as a parent their joint or separate assets and income going forward. We are committed to providing tailored legal solutions that meet your specific needs.
